# Quivvo vs boat

Quivvo and boat both give each agent a full Linux virtual machine with its own kernel, root, Docker and a disk that survives a stop. boat costs less: its 2 vCPU, 4 GB sandbox is $0.018 per running hour, against $0.054 on Quivvo. It also includes 51 GB of disk and nested virtualization. boat runs only in Europe and has no pause. Quivvo runs in Amsterdam and Ashburn, Virginia, suspends a machine with its memory when it can, and has a hosted MCP server.

## How do they compare?

| | Quivvo | boat |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 2 vCPU + 4 GiB, per running hour | $0.054 | $0.018 |
| 4 vCPU + 8 GiB, per running hour | $0.108 | $0.036 |
| Disk | $0.20 per GiB-month, none included | 51 GB included on these sizes |
| Starting out | $5 of credit, no card | 7-day trial with 25 compute hours, card required, then plans from $20 a month |
| Idle machines | Suspend, keeping memory and processes when it can, otherwise stop | Stop only: processes end, the disk stays |
| Regions | Amsterdam and Ashburn, Virginia | Germany, Finland and France |
| Public URLs | The machine's URL serves one published port | A URL for each port, up to 50 |
| Desktop | On demand, in the dashboard or any VNC client | Yes, streamed to the browser |
| Nested virtualization | No | Yes, `/dev/kvm` in every sandbox |
| Hosted MCP server for machines | Yes | Its docs describe an MCP server for reading the docs; agents drive sandboxes with the CLI |
| Ways to drive it | CLI, REST API, hosted MCP server, TypeScript and Python SDKs | CLI, REST API, TypeScript and Python SDKs |

## When should I choose boat?

Choose boat if price matters most: a machine costs about a third as much per running hour, with disk included. Choose it too if your agents need to run virtual machines or Android emulators inside the sandbox, or need many public ports. Its $20 plan runs up to 100 sandboxes at once, against 25 on Quivvo's $20 Pro plan.

## When should I choose Quivvo?

Choose Quivvo if your machines have to run outside Europe, close to users or data in North America. Choose it too if an idle machine should come back with its processes still running, since boat ends them at every stop. And choose it if your agents work through MCP, or if you want to try it without a card.
